Why Visit Costa Rica?
Even though Costa Rica is a small country, it has a great biological and habitat diversity due to the convergence of two hemispheres, two oceans, and its varying geography. This creates wonderful changing views for travelers. There is a chain of mountains that forms a back- bone down the length of Costa Rica. They start in the north with the Guanacaste "Cordillera" (mountain range), continues with the Tilaran Cordillera (location of Monteverde and Arenal), the Central Cordillera (Irazu, Poás, Braulio Carrillo), and finishes with the the southern Talamanca Cordillera (which is the highest in the country).
Costa Rica People "Pura Vida" - Visit Costa Rica
Costa Rica has about 4 million inhabitants and an annual growth rate of about 2%. About 60% live around San Jose and in the central highlands. There are 75 people per square kilometer which is the third highest in Central America. The majority of the population are white and of European and indigenous heritage. The Caribbean region has a large percentage of African descendants making up about 2% of the total population and origin from the Jamaican workers that came to work on the railroad in the late 19th century.
